Update: Vermont safety leaders are encouraging people not to get involved in high speed chases, after a truck helped end one last night.
State police say a trooper tried to pull over a car speeding southbound on Interstate 89 Thursday night.
During the chase, police say a truck purposely moved into the left lane to prevent the car from speeding off.
The public safety commissioner says in high speed chases people shouldn't get involved.
"There are just too many variables. The person that's being pursued could try to ram the person that's trying to block them. And you have to remember these are vehicles that are well over 2,000 pounds," said Public Safety Commissioner Keith Flynn.
Vermont state police say this man, Jonathan Robarge of Morrisville, is the one who lead them on the high speed chase.
During the chase state police say Robarge's car was going 125 miles per hour.

Vermont State Police say a truck driver came to their aid as they tried to stop a motorist during a high-speed chase on Interstate 89.
Police said they clocked a vehicle speeding 91 miles an hour in Bolton on Thursday night. The speed limit is 65 miles an hour.
A trooper activated his cruiser's blue emergency lights and siren as he pursued the vehicle south on I-89. But the vehicle kept going, reaching about 125 miles an hour.
A truck driver saw the pursuit and pulled into the left lane of the interstate so that both lanes of traffic were blocked.
Police caught up with the driver of the vehicle and took him into custody. He's identified as 18-year-old Jonathan Robarge of Morrisville. Four passengers were riding with him.
