Ways to Stay Safe During the Hot Weather

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

On another sizzling day, the Vermont Health Department wants to make sure you know how to stay safe from heat exhaustion and dehydration.

Make sure you stay cool, a pool is an obvious place, but the library and mall are also good options.

Also stay informed, if you're planning a day outdoors, make sure you know what the weather is like ahead of time.

And, of course, stay hydrated. Make sure the little ones in your family are also getting the amount of water they need.

"Staying hydrated is so important especially for little kids you know. They don't know that they're that thirsty and they won't tell you so really get out there and give your kids drinks as often as you can," Tracy Dolan, Vermont Health Department, said.

This is helpful information that will carry us throughout the summer.
