Ways People Look to Beat the Heat

ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. -

Hundreds of people crammed into the Maple Street pool in Essex Junction, Vermont Wednesday.

90-plus degree temperatures and no school brought a number of families out.

So much so people had to be turned away after the park reached full capacity about an hour after being open.

For most people deciding to go the pool was easy.

"It's hot. It's hot hazy and humid," said Emma Stevens.

"It is sweltering out here. If you're not in the pool then you're just sweating sitting here," said Jessica Owens.

Even though some people chose to cool down outside, after a few minutes they realized it might not have been the best idea.

"You just go ahh. It is just like, oh my God it is so hot here you don't know what to do," said Owens.

"Takes your breath away a little, you have to take it in," said Stevens.

If it wasn't the air conditioning or hanging in the pool you could always get in the shade and have a nice ice cream cone.

That's just what a number of people did at Rocky's.

"It's just a nice quick fix," said Stevens.

With hot temperatures expected to stick around for most of this week some people say they're thinking ahead.

"I'm not leaving. I'm staying in so I can stay here," said Owens.
