Experts: Allergy Season is in Full Swing

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

If you have a hard time breathing this week, the humidity won't be the only reason why.

Allergy experts say pollen season is in full swing.

Although it's not higher than usual, experts say pollen broke out much earlier this year because of the warmer winter temperatures.

To avoid problems, experts say, to steer clear of mowing the lawn, and if you need to, wear a mask.

They also say not to use a clothesline, because they collect pollen.

"Last year we saw more pollen than we normally would," Elizabeth Jaffe, Allergy Expert said. "This year is pretty typical but last year was about 50% higher than the previous 10 years."

Right now, pollen is high in grasses, which should last until the end of July. Toward the end of summer, experts say, it will come back in the form of other weeds.
