Man Accused of Winooski Break-In Behind Bars

Posted: Updated:

Burlington, Vt. - A man accused of breaking into a Winooski home is behind bars tonight.

Angel Concepcion appeared to have no trouble walking into his Burlington courtroom, Monday. This, only a week after the 23-year-old from Burlington was shot in the stomach.

Concepcion pleaded not guilty to charges including assault and robbery. Last week, police say Concepcion and three other people tried to break into a Winooski home with a hand-gun.

Police say a tenant at the home shot Concepcion and one other intruder before they could enter. That was after, the tenant claimed, the suspect struck him in the face with brass knuckles.

Concepcion and Trinelle Cox were found near the scene ant transported to Fletcher Allen Health Care to be treated. But, the ordeal was not over yet.

On Saturday, police say Concepcion fled the hospital, still hooked up to an IV and dressed only in his hospital gown. Police tracked him down and arrested him shortly after.

Concepcion remains in jail and faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

Trinelle Cox is still in the hospital recovering from his gun shot wound. Police say he will likely be paralyzed from the incident.

Police are also still on the lookout for possibly two other people. If you know anything about this incident, please contact the Winooski Police.
