PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -

A Massachusetts man was sentenced to 23 years in prison Monday for cocaine sales from Springfield, Mass. to Plattsburgh, N.Y. area.

A press release says, a Clinton County jury deliberated for approximately half an hour before convicting Eric A. Jackson, 30, of Springfield, Mass. of selling 0.99 grams of crack cocaine on November 2, 2011 and selling 5.2 grams of crack cocaine on November 11, 2011 in the town of Plattsburgh.

"I would like to commend the New York State Police Troop B Narcotics Unit for their work in this case," stated Assistant District Attorney Douglas Collyer, who prosecuted the case.  "This sentence sends a strong message to those who traffic narcotics to our community for enhanced monetary gain that the consequences are not worth the possible reward."

Jackson, who has a criminal history, including felony convictions for selling marijuana and weapons possession, will serve 11 years on parole once he is released from prison. In addition to his prison sentence, he was ordered to pay $325 in mandatory surcharges and $770 in restitution for the money used to purchase cocaine.
