BURLINGTON, Vt. -
The Vermont Lakemonsters are about to open up their season, but first they need help from community members.
During the nearly three-month season the players need somewhere to stay.
That's why the organization turns to the community.
People who live in the Burlington area can host one or two players.
In return, you get money in rent and a free season ticket.
Plus Lakemonsters officials say there's an added bonus.
"A lot of families make lifelong relationships with these guys where they go to see them at extended spring training and they go to their weddings," said Lakemonsters merchandise & accounting manager Kate Echo.
The Lakemonsters kick off their season this Monday in Burlington.
