BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Police say she walked into a man's apartment while he was home and stole his wallet, but that's not the worst part. They say Shawna Hosmer had her two kids with her at the time. Hosmer was in court to face charges Tuesday.
Police say the young mom and her two and four year old kids stopped by a friends house; when she was told that friend had moved, police say she took the wallet that contained 3-bucks.
Police were called, and Hosmer was found walking on Church Street. Hosmer exclusively told ABC 22, that she has a criminal record and is trying to turn her life around.
"I don't condone burglary, I don't condone stealing, I've explained to my daughter how it's wrong, and I've made mistakes in the past and my kids are very aware of my mistakes and I'm doing what I gotta do to better myself to be an effective mom to them," Hosmer said.
Because this is a violation of Hosmer's probation, she could be sentenced up to 15 years in prison.
