MILTON, Vt. -

Vermont State Parks offers plenty of reasons to go out exploring and this weekend there is an added bonus, it is all free.

A number of people were out enjoying the Sand Bar State Park Friday. Normally here you have to pay money to enjoy the park. But during this weekend's Vermont Days the entry fee is waived.

Some people say it's a smart idea to get more people to come out all season.

"I think it would drum up business for later on too because the people who don't normally come, can come and see what a beautiful park this is. Then they'll be like, "hey we want to come back again," said Cathy Cabe.

There's also free fishing on Saturday. Anyone can go out to Vermont's lakes, rivers and streams without a permit and fish.
