Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Jury selection has been set in the case against a Colchester teen accused of texting while driving when she hit a woman, injuring her.

At a hearing Friday morning, jury draw was set for August 6 in the case against Emma Viera.

Viera, 19, has pleaded not guilty to gross negligent operation with serious injury.

Police say Viera was texting and driving when she hit Debbie Drewniak, with her car almost a year ago. At the time, Drewniak was walking her dog on River Road near the intersection of Grey Birch Drive.

Drewniak spent several weeks in a coma.
