SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -
The leader of the Vermont National Guard is heading west to Colorado.
Last week, Major General Michael Dubie was promoted to Lieutenant General and Deputy Commander of the Northern Command.
This will make Dubie a 3-star General. He will be responsible for protecting the United States, as well as Canada, Mexico and International Waters.
Vermont has a unique process for picking the next adjutant general and is up to the Vermont Legislature.
General Dubie says he will not be making a recommendation to fill his position.
