Ready for the long weekend? I know I am!
Morning meteorologist Steve Glazier here with a Friday update to the weather forecast. All week people have been asking me, "How's it lookin' for this weekend?" Actually that question goes back to last week when my co-workers started asking me 10-14 days out.
The short answer: Good. I think the weekend looks good with most of it staying dry. Although I can't rule out the chance of passing showers on some of the days.
Let's start with Saturday. I have 95% confidence we'll have a fantastic day. I dare not say 100% because I've learned and gotten proven wrong with what I thought were easy forecasts in the past. Saturday will feature dry, low humidity levels with plenty of sunshine and high temperatures in the upper 70s after a start in the upper 50s.
Sunday and Monday the forecast deteriorates a little. More clouds will spread over Sunday but most of the day will be dry. I'd say after 2 p.m. we'll stand the chance for isolated showers. Two things about that statement. Chance and isolated. So it doesn't mean we'll have a washout by any means, but the likelihood of any rain will increase from <10% Saturday to probably up to 30% or so Sunday afternoon. Sunday night and early Monday that likelihood rises to probably 50% with a nearby front possibly sparking a few showers.
In my opinion I wouldn't change any plans Sunday or Monday. Chances for rain are minimal enough that I think we can squeak by without any huge busts on the outdoor plans. Of course just be on standby for pop up showers late Sunday afternoon and Monday. We are getting closer to the summer months which means the atmosphere has more instability with it (generally speaking) and that translates into "pop-up" showers here and there.
Chief Meteorologist Kerrin Jeromin & myself have been posting blogs regarding the weather. Here's a short blurb from hers Thursday night:
"Here are the forecast details for race morning:
8am: Partly cloudy. Temp near 60°. Light wind. Dew points in the mid 40s (=comfortable humidity)
10am: Partly sunny. Temp near 66°. Light wind. Comfortable humidity.
Noon: Mostly cloudy. Temp near 70. North wind around 7 mph. Comfortable humidity.
2pm: Isolated shower. Temp near 74. North wind 8 mph. Comfortable humidity. "
That's regarding the city marathon Sunday. The whole blog can be found here. I've also posted a very detailed forecast every three hours from Saturday at 6 a.m. until Monday at 9 p.m. That can be found here. As always our weather section will be updated again Friday night, then during the weekend. Have a great time outside, enjoy time with friends and family, keep past and present military members in your thoughts, and enjoy the weather!
