Not Much Movement in Proposed Target Store

Posted: Updated:
WILLISTON, Vt. -

There has been a lot of talk about a possible Target store in Williston, but as far as we can tell, it either isn't a top priority or there isn't much interest.

According to the Williston Zoning and Planning Director, Target hasn't had any conversations with the town since January.

Many want to see the store built on the old driving range at the corner of Williston Road and Maple Tree Place. But there are issues, including the location of the project and traffic.

"What was proposed or what was discussed at that time was a store of approximately 136,500 square feet, for comparison, that's the size of about three acres of land," Ken Belliveau, the Williston Zoning and Planning Director said.

The property Target is interested in doesn't have proper zoning, so several realtors have expressed interest in discussing different locations with the company.

There are no Target stores in the State of Vermont.
