MONTPELIER, Vt. -
The man who a year ago said he was considering his options in Vermont politics, has decided not to seek re-election.
In a letter FOX 44 received Friday afternoon, State Auditor Tom Salmon has decided against a fourth run.
This has been a back and forth decision for the republican.
In February of last year, he said he would not run for auditor again.
By March, he was taking steps toward a possible run to unseat Independent Bernie Sanders.
Then last September, he decided to run for auditor.
Now he says he'll most likely land in federal service. He says he also has an offer from a CPA firm as well.
Tom Salmon has had an interesting history; he served in Iraq while in office, changed political parties, and was pulled over for drunk driving.
