PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -
Plattsburgh voters made it clear they're not in favor of more taxes, and that's why the school's budget proposal failed Tuesday. But now the school district will need to figure out how to cut 540,000 more from the budget.
The District had asked for a tax increase that would have exceeded the state's cap limit, but tax payers couldn't support it. Now, programs will have to be prioritized.
"We are not going to be cutting all music or all athletics, not gonna happen, but the degree that which we fund it does have to come under question," Superintendent of Plattsburgh City School District, James Short said.
A school board meeting Thursday night at 7 at the Oak Street Elementary School will focus on the next level of reductions that are needed to find a budget that Plattsburgh voters will approve in the June 19th re-vote election.
