Hundreds Celebrate Mother's Day at Shelburne Museum

SHELBURNE, Vt. -

It's opening weekend for a big Vermont tourist attraction, the Shelburne Museum.
And hundreds of people stopped by to spend Mother's Day there.

Because it was a gorgeous day to be outside, many people enjoyed the scenery and celebrated all of the wonderful mothers that are out there.
From walking tours of the museum grounds to gardening and art projects, there was a little something for everyone.

The sun was shining and the flowers were in bloom, several people even stopped to smell the roses- or lilacs in this case. "People love to come to Shelburne Museum to see our lilacs. We have 400 lilacs in 90 varieties," Leslie Wright of the Shelburne Museum said.

One group of people rocked to the beat and spent the day teaching their little ones how to dance. Others sipped tea at the annual Doll Tea Party.
With 45 acres of land, a variety of activities and this incredible view, many families have made this an annual Mother's Day tradition. "For the last couple of years, we've come up here," Elizabeth Berdann said.

Berdann and her daughter Rosamund feel fortunate for the relationship they have and bond over art. Elizabeth has her work on display inside the lighthouse at the museum. "I adore her, she's the most important thing to me," Elizabeth Berdann said about her daughter.
Rosamund added, "she is my rock, I wouldn't be me without her."

So not only is the Spring season being celebrated, it's a day to say thanks to the mom who played a role in your life.

Right now, the museum is only open for a few months out of the year, but with a new building going up, Shelburne Museum will be open year round.

Happy Mother's Day!
