Founder of Green Mountain Coffee Fired

WATERBURY, Vt. -

The founder of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters has been fired, but still defends his decision.

Robert Stiller was fired after breaking company rules by selling shares of its stock. Stiller and fellow Director William Davis promise to repay the loans, but do not think they were doing anything wrong.

The Waterbury, Vt. based coffee roaster and maker of Keurig Single Serve Coffee saw its stock plummet recently. This prompted the two to sell shares quickly to cover losses.

Company policy now states that high ranking employees cannot take out loans that use shares as collateral.
