Police: Driver in VT I-89 Fatals Wore Cast

BOLTON, Vt. -

Police say the driver who was killed along with his girlfriend and infant son on Vermont's Interstate 89 in Bolton was driving without a license and had a cast on his left foot.

Police said 29-year-olds Jason Potvin and April Otis and 8-month-old Hunter Potvin of Williamstown were killed Monday. Potvin was heading north when his Subaru went off the road, crossed the median and crashed into an oncoming pickup truck. That driver, John Hill of Concord, N.H., was treated and released from a hospital.

State police declined to say whether the cast might have contributed to the crash. Gabriel Hathaway of Berlin told The Burlington Free Press he saw Potvin hopping on one foot at a gas station minutes before the accident.

Potvin's license was suspended in October.
