VT Woman Charged in Hit-And-Run Gets Bail

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. -

A judge has lifted a hold-without-bail order imposed on a Vermont woman accused of a hit-and-run accident.

Thirty-eight-year-old Brooke McKee-O'Dell has pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury resulting.

She's accused of running over 26-year-old Edwin Jones of St. Johnsbury with her car last month. He was treated and released from a hospital.

The Caledonian-Record reports (http://bit.ly/Jddu0O) the judge initially ordered her held without bail and prohibited her from contacting several witnesses, including her husband, Roland O'Dell, a passenger in her car. He was jailed because of an outstanding arrest warrant on a petty larceny charge.

The judge approved a defense lawyer's request to set bail for McKee-O'Dell at $100,000 and remove the no-contact order.
