ST. ALBANS, Vt. -
A suspicious package prompted an evacuation at the immigration building in St. Albans Thursday morning.
Fox44 Reporter Nick Natario was told about 1,000 people were evacuated. Workers are being sent home.
A spokesperson for US Immigration says a package that was scanned and x-rayed just before 11 a.m. showed metal wiring inside box. It was immediately labeled suspicious.
The package is currently in the mailroom.
State and local agencies are at the scene. The bomb squad arrived at around 12:30 p.m.
