Florence, AL (PRWEB) May 03, 2012
Getting nonprofits, churches, and government agencies to work together at improving people's lives is not easy. Fortunately, a new web-based service is paving the way for greater cooperation and collaboration. People are better served. Service providers are better informed, and the community is better engaged.
Simon Solutions Inc., a leader in Internet software for community development, announces the release of CharityTracker Plus™, which is the enhanced version of CharityTracker Basic™ now used by thousands of community service providers in 495 cities. This web-based service makes it easier for service providers to share information about the people they serve, and quickly gather resources from other organizations. CharityTracker Plus includes new easy-to-use features such as, Outcomes, Requests and Referrals, Agency Service Index, Private Groups, and File Uploads.
The Outcomes feature will enable an agency or group of agencies to create a customized roadmap that tracks a person’s progress from crisis to self-sustainability. The Request and Referrals feature empowers every agency to point people in the right direction for the information and services they need. The Agency Service Index feature is a directory of all services offered by agencies that participate in referrals. The Private Groups feature provides enhanced security for the client data that does not need to be shared with everyone, but can be shared with the appropriate agents or agencies. The File Uploads feature enables agencies to attach files to bulletins, assistance records, requests, and notes.
The original version of CharityTracker was created in 2006 by Florence, AL community service providers who were impacted by Hurricane Katrina. To be better prepared for emergencies, the service providers collaborated to overcome the isolation and fragmentation that had plagued their city for so many years. They were determined to find practical solutions to stay well-connected and partner together to make a difference. After months of collaboration, they approached Simon Solutions to create CharityTracker. What started as a local solution for working together is now used nationwide.
Today, CharityTracker is helping nonprofits, churches, and government agencies bridge the gaps across organizational boundaries. It has created a “community safety net” that keeps people from falling through the cracks. Tina Scott, former United Way Director of Northwest Alabama, has said, “This technology is helping to break down barriers; if someone has a need, it doesn’t have to stay within our boundaries; we can tap into the network and find other communities with available resources to meet the need. It helps to bring us all together.”
CharityTracker also addresses the needs of organizations that are doing more with less. Collectively, community service providers are better able to reduce duplication of services, saving up to 18% annually. They are making better informed decisions about assistance and allocating limited resources where they are most needed.
CharityTracker has also become a valuable tool for improved disaster preparedness and response. Service providers are thankful for how CharityTracker helped during the outbreak of tornadoes in Joplin, MO and Montgomery, AL.
“City mayors and state government leaders are now looking at CharityTracker for an online emergency broadcast system for quick mobilization of resources and volunteers”, says Mike Simon, President and CEO of Simon Solutions. “Sending out important area-wide bulletins and alerts is easy, ensuring everyone is on the same page for disaster recovery.”
The new features in CharityTracker Plus were inspired by input from the United Way and other charitable organizations. Those agencies truly understand what it means to be resourceful, and at the same time, provide people with quality care. Having the ability to measure outcomes in the areas of income, health, and education enables service providers to better serve people and their communities.
