BURLINGTON, Vt. -
A man accused of killing a Vermont social worker in her Burlington home in 2010 has been ordered to undergo another psychiatric evaluation.
The judge ordered the evaluation after a lawyer for 46-year-old Jose Pazos found him incompetent to stand trial.
Pazos is accused of killing Kathleen Smith on Nov. 9, 2010. Friends of Smith told police he held a grudge against her over a custody dispute involving his child.
Pazos has been trying to represent himself. The Burlington Free Press reports he sent a letter to the judge saying the psychiatrist's report was full of inaccuracies. He asked for more time to file a complaint. The judge denied the request.
The judge also ordered a lawyer to continue representing Pazos. His trial is scheduled to start in August.
