St. Albans Man Pled Not Guilty to Obstructing Commerce Tuesday

RUTLAND, Vt. -

A St. Albans, Vt. man pled not guilty to a charge of obstructing commerce by robbery Tuesday.

Court documents allege that, Christopher McCarthy, 43, took methadone and oxycodone from a Rite Aid employee by means of actual and threatened force, violence, or fear of injury to the employee.

According to a press release, McCarthy was arrested by the Vermont State Police on February 11. He was initially charged in Rutland Superior Court and the state charge is dismissed after the return of the federal indictment.

If convicted, McCarthy faces a maximum possible term of imprisonment of 20 years.
