Montpelier, Vt. - Hundreds rallied for May Day on the lawn of the Vermont State House, Tuesday.
Linda Limoges stood with her daughter and classmate to bring attention to several social issues, some more personal than others.
"I have no health insurance right now," Limoges said.
Universal healthcare is one big issue for Limoges. But she also wants control over sky-rocketing education costs.
Sandy Gaffney rallied for a very different reason. She lost her mobile home in Tropical Storm Irene more than six months ago.
"Probably over half the people from the flood still don't have the place that will be the most comfortable for them," Gaffney said.
But the storm brought up another growing problem, a lack of affordable housing in Vermont.
"You know I live in two rooms and it's still not affordable," Gaffney said.
Just one more issue on a growing list. But Limoges and Gaffney say the most important part is to bring attention to it.
"We have to continue to strive towards all these changes because we can't give up and just let everything fall apart," Limoges said.
