FERRISBURG, Vt. -
A massive fire in Ferrisburg, Vt. destroyed a building that housed two businesses, Erikson's Marine and a farm equipment repair shop, early Monday morning.
"This was a very dangerous fire for the firefighters because of the way the buildings were constructed," Bill Wagner, Ferrisburg Fire Chief said. "Fortunately we've only had one minor injury, a firefighter got some burns on his hands."
Crews blocked off Route 7, just north of Ferrisburg, but it is now back open. At least 10 fire departments helped put out the blaze.
A water line in Vergennes also broke which also gave fire fighters problems getting water to the fire. Crews say it will take most of the day to fix it.
Fire officials do not know the cause of the fire, but says it started in the repair shop.
