South Burlington, Vt. - The man accused of stalking a South Burlington neighborhood made his first appearance in court, Friday.
30-year-old Benjamin Alley pleaded not guilty to the charge of stalking. Police say he followed kids, peeped into windows, and hid behind homes on Hadley Road in South Burlington for weeks.
"My kids were out jumping on the trampoline and he was standing there watching them," Neighbor Chris Bessette said.
Police even said Alley peeped into a home and watched a mother breast feed her five month old child.
Alley, who is listed as a transient, has a criminal past. He was arrested in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and then Bennington, Vermont for minor crimes earlier this year. His last known address is in Hawaii.
Some neighbors have a hunch that Alley was not working alone although police have not confirmed that there is another suspect.
"Once the next one, his accomplice is taken into custody, that will be a relief for everybody here. Maybe at that point we can let our guard down but not until we get the second one," neighbor Mike Hennessey said.
