Vermont Legislative Session Ends Later Than Lawmakers Hoped

MONTPELIER, Vt. -

Friday was the day Vermont lawmakers had hoped to wrap up the session.

But it appears it's going to last at least another week.

Lawmakers still have a number of items to address, like passing a budget and redistricting.

House Speaker Shap Smith says he was looking forward to heading home Friday.

"I would like to be going back to my other job on Monday and I'm disappointed that I'm not," said House Speaker Smith.

Speaker Smith says the session is budgeted for another two weeks.

He says they are hoping to wrap up by the end of next week.
