Police Investigating Shooting in White River Junction

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. -

Police are investigating a shooting that took place in White River Junction Wednesday night.

According to police, Chris Reiley, the owner of Cj's at Than Wheelers Restaurant reported hearing gun shots. The owner then saw Lucas Dennis-Devries, 26, of White River Junction, stagger around the corner by the Tucker Box and then collapse on the sidewalk.

Dennis-Devries told police he was walking home from work when he passed a male subject with a German Shepard type dog standing on the corner of N. Main St. and Currier St. He nodded to the male subject as he walked by, but didn't receive acknowledgement. He was then shot from behind. Police say the bullet entered his buttock and exited his groin. The subject had run off after the shooting.

Dennis-Devries was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say they have identified two potential individuals that maybe involved with the shooting. This is believed to have been an isolated incident.
