The investigations into the death of man whose body was found in a Vermont swimming pool and a string of robberies in Franklin County have taken a new twist.

Police say the man suspected of being involved in four robberies in Swanton and St. Albans most likely died before the robberies began.

The body of 22-year-old Chris Davis was found April 16 in the St. Albans municipal swimming pool. The cause of death has not been determined.

Davis had been named as a "person of interest" in the robberies between April 1 and 9.

The Burlington Free Press says investigators now believe Davis may have been dead by March 29.

On Wednesday, police said a woman who used Davis's debit card went to police, but she was not arrested.
