Commuters tired of paying four dollars a gallon for gas have a new transportation option.
A route from Burlington to Middlebury has been added to the bus schedule.
The commuter bus runs Monday through Friday, four times each day... it connects Chittenden and Addison counties in Middlebury, Bristol, Starksboro, Hinesburg, South Burlington, and Burlington along the Route 116 corridor. "We see it as both helpful for individuals, in making their commuting cheaper and also as an economic development tool for both Burlington businesses and Hinesberg businesses as well," Director of Planning and Marketing of Chittenden County Transportation Authority, Meredith Birkett said.
116 Commuter Bus Ready to Roll:
Morning service: Southbound Buses will depart Cherry Street at 7:00 AM and 7:45 AM with intermediate stops in Burlington and South Burlington, arriving in Hinesburg at 7:40 AM and 8:25 AM, respectively. At 8:25 AM, the ACTR bus will continue from Hinesburg through Starksboro and Bristol, arriving at Merchant's Row in Middlebury at 9:15 AM.
Morning service: Northbound The ACTR bus will depart Merchant's Row in Middlebury at 6:10 AM with stops in Bristol and Starksboro, Hinesburg at 7:00 AM, arriving Fletcher Allen Health Care at 7:35 AM and Cherry Street at 7:45 AM. CCTA will begin northbound service at Hinesburg Town Hall at 7:45 AM, arriving at Fletcher Allen Health Care at 8:20 AM and Cherry Street at 8:30 AM.
Afternoon service: Southbound The first southbound bus will depart Cherry Street at 4:50 PM and arrive in Hinesburg at 5:32 PM. The second southbound bus will depart Cherry Street at 5:15 PM, arrive in Hinesburg at 5:55 PM, and continue on to Merchant's Row, Middlebury arriving at 6:45 PM, with intermediate stops in Bristol and Starksboro.
Afternoon service: Northbound The ACTR bus will depart Merchant's Row in Middlebury at 3:40 PM, travel through Bristol, Starksboro, Hinesburg at 4:30 PM, and arrive at Cherry Street at 5:15 PM. At 5:35 PM, the bus will depart Hinesburg at 5:35 PM and arrive at Cherry Street at 6:15 PM.
