MVU Students Fight on Bus While Driver Keeps Going

Posted: Updated:
SWANTON, Vt. -

As students from Missisquoi Valley Union high school made their way home Monday things turned ugly.

"Hey I heard you wanted to kick my a**," said a student.

The camera rolled as the students continued to verbally go after each other, while others cheered them on.

"So you want to fight? I'll fight you right now," said a student!

"Go after him," said another student!

Seconds later the two stood in the middle of the bus and went at it.

The fight lasted about a minute.

During which the bus keeps moving and no one tries to break it up.

Later that night we got an email from one of the student's parents showing us the video.

His main concern, why the bus driver did nothing to break up the fight, something we also wanted to know.

On Tuesday we spoke with the principal and superintendent, who didn't want to go on camera.

They say they're also worried that no one stepped in.

What's worse, they had to learn about the fight on Facebook, not the bus company.

The school district contracts their bus services through M & C Transport in Franklin, Vermont.

We went there to ask them about the situation.

No one answered.

School leaders say they are investigating not just the students' actions but whether the bus company failed to protect their students.

Because they say their actions aren't just dangerous to the students it can be disastrous for a driver.

As for the students, we don't know if they were hurt. We do know that school policy is to keep students off the bus for at least a month after a fight.
