BURLINGTON, Vt. -
In March, we had a stretch of warm weather but since it was so early, park restrooms were not yet open leaving people to find other options. However, Monday is a different story. At North Beach, people dressed in swimsuits and worked on tans while others hula hooped and played catch.
"I was not expecting this weather but I'm happy we have it," said Burlington resident, Natalie Glaser.
Burlington resident, Tara Demuro agreed,"I can't complain at all, the week in March was beautiful and this is like unbelievable."
This is the second time unseasonable temperatures spiked. In March, hot days also brought people to the beach.
However, since the beach was closed, so we're the restrooms. Maggie Leugers with the Burlington Parks and Recreation department said March was just too early, "If we would have tried to open those restrooms all those pipes would have definitely froze and we would've had pretty significant issues."
That left people like Demuro with no option, "We had to go into the woods and the boys were doing it wherever they wanted."
But Monday there is a bit of relief, the department brought in extra workers to open the restroom facilities early.
"What we are trying to do is make reasonable accommodations where depending upon how the temperatures are for the weather we will have the restrooms for North Beach opened," said Leugers.
Which lets people get back to enjoying the weather before its gone. North Beach officially opens on May 1St.
