NY Governor Announced Projects to Restore and Repair Flood Systems

Governor Cuomo announced New York projects to restore and repair flood control systems and dams in the North Country.

According to a press release, the $5,120,000 investment for New York projects will allow for 8 flood control system and dam repair projects.

"The centerpiece of this budget is the New York Works program, which will help rebuild our aging infrastructure, including our dams and flood control systems, to protect people and property throughout our state," Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a press release.

The NY Works dam and flood control projects in the North Country are as follows:

  • Bog River Dam - Critical Dam Repair  $500,000
  • Kingdom Dam - Critical Dam Repair $500,000
  • Lows Lake Dam - Critical Dam Repair $500,000
  • Main Mill Dam - Critical Dam Repair $2,500,000
  • Palmer Lake Dam - Critical Dam Repair $500,000
  • Taylor Pond Dam - Critical Dam Repair $500,000
  • Whiteside Dam - Critical Dam Repair $100,000
  • Malone - Flood Control Project $20,000

 Total: $5,120,000

The NY Works Task Force, consisting of 15 members, coordinates capital plans across 45 agencies and authorities. Nine of the members are appointed by the Governor and 6 by the Legislature.
