Vermont Towns Launch Solar Power Projects

Posted: Updated:
WATERBURY, Vt. -

Going green often means saving green, which is why hundreds of people showed up to the local Energy Action Partnership Fair in Waterbury to learn more about energy efficient changes they can make in their home or business.

Waterbury and Duxbury are leading the way by setting a goal to double the number of solar panel sites in each town by next year. That's around one new system that will be installed each week.

Local residents say this will help people fight climate change, save money on their electric bills and promote local jobs in the renewable energy sector.  Senator Bernie Sanders has also played a big role in getting solar panels to power much of the middle.

"What we're talking about it trying to save the planet by cutting back on greenhouse gas emissions, we're talking about saving consumers and home owners on their fuel bills, we're talking about creating the jobs that our communities need," said Senator Sanders.

You can save money and help the environment by getting a home energy audit and weatherizing your home.
