Vermont Police Return to Lot to Find Currier Couple

Posted: Updated:
ESSEX, Vt. -

State and Essex police officers are back at an area off Vermont Route 15 continuing their search for William and Lorraine Currier, the Essex Junction couple who disappeared last June.

Police have said they believe foul play was involved in the disappearance of the Curriers.

On Thursday police used a backhoe to excavate the area and a state police dog examined the soil. They returned to the area Friday morning.

Police have not said what, if anything, they have discovered. Fifty-year-old William Currier worked at the University of Vermont and his 56-year-old wife worked for Fletcher Allen Health Care. They were last seen leaving their jobs at about 5 p.m. June 8, 2011.

Essex Police Chief Bradley LaRose says the operation is part of the search for the Curriers.
