
UTICA, N.Y. (AP) - Police in Utica say they're searching for a 9-month-old boy who was last seen in late May but whose disappearance wasn't reported to authorities until this week. Police tell local media outlets they learned about Levon Wameling's disappearance from an attorney for relatives. The lawyer said that 27-year-old Jevon Wameling told him he'd left his son on the front porch of his Utica home late on the night of May 29th and went around to unlock the back door. Police say Wameling said by the time he got into the house and opened the front door, the baby was gone.
CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (AP) - Police say an elderly husband and wife have been killed in a two-vehicle crash on a suburban Buffalo road. Police in the town of Cheektowaga say the crash happened around 7 last night. Investigators say a Ford Escape being driven by 83-year-old Eugene Fechter of Cheektowaga was pulling onto Genesee Street when it was hit by a Dodge Charger. Fechter and his 84-year-old wife, Marian Fechter, died.
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Governor Andrew Cuomo's plan to make state college campuses tax-free zones for new businesses is being generally praised by campus leaders, even as some faculty members worry it could tarnish the schools' academic reputations. Cuomo says the plan will create jobs in a long-stagnant upstate economy.
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York conservation officials have established two new parking areas on recently purchased public land in the central Adirondacks, effectively opening more than a dozen miles of the upper Hudson River to canoeists. Both are on the west side of the Hudson, just less than a mile from the water.
