Family of missing NY teen speaks out

PIERCEFIELD, N.Y. -

Family of missing New York teen Colin Gillis says there was nothing out of the ordinary the day the 18- year old disappeared.

"It was a normal, it was I'm going to see friends, then I'll be home," says father John Gillis.

The family says the outpouring from the community is what keeps them going.

"Everyone has one goal. Let's find Colin," says brother Lyndon Gillis.

Colin Gillis was last seen on Route 3 on the Franklin/St. Lawrence town border. A motorist saw him walking on road around 2am and notified authorities right away.

Wednesday, the search stayed on land but they also focused on water.

Captain John Streiff says search and rescue are heavily searching the edges of the water.

"Starting to go downstream on the Raquette River and using kayak teams  and forest ranger," says Streiff.

The family says Colin was a boy scout growing up—skills they hope he's putting to good use.

"We grew up in the woods, we know what to look out for. We know what to do," says Lyndon.
