In June, John Becker posed as a patient at Dr. Marcus Bachmann's clinic in Minnesota.
The goal was to find out whether Bachmann & Associates practices so-called reparative therapy which aims to cure gays and lesbians.
The undercover footage Becker walked away with was damaging and the investigation received worldwide attention.
Bachmann and his wife, Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, denied the therapy.
Five months later, Becker, who is based in Burlington, says he got a voice message from Marcus Bachmann.
"I was stunned, simply stunned," said Becker.
He says Bachmann demanded $150 dollars for two missed appointments, or he would send the bill to a collection agency.
"I followed their no show policy, I canceled my appointments, I gave them notice," said Becker.
He returned returned the call while we were there and spoke directly to Marcus Bachmann.
At Becker's invitation, we listened to Bachmann.
His tone was pleasant but direct, especially when he said, "You'll be charged and you owe us so we're going to send you to a collection agency, whatever it takes to get the truth out of you."
Bachmann seemed careful not to mentioned the undercover episode until Becker told Bachmann that he didn't ask for any trouble.
Bachmann said, "You come under deception, you come under a total lie, and you don't ask for this john? Boy, that really is taking responsibility."
