Williston, Vermont - Police say at around 11:30 Sunday morning a man drove to the Vermont State Police Barracks in Williston and committed suicide.
Michael Weisler, 43, of Waterville was arrested Saturday night on charges of lewd and lascivious behavior with a minor. According to police, he made his $10,000 bail just after midnight Sunday morning and was released. He was due in court on Monday.
The Vermont State Police Barracks in Williston got a call just after 11 Sunday morning from a friend of Weisler. He said Weisler was on his way to the barracks with the intent to commit suicide.
Two state troopers stood outside the barracks, in the parking lot, waiting for Weisler. When he showed up, police say, he immediately got out of his car and shot himself in the head with a handgun.
"He got out and stated, 'I'm the person your looking for,' and got out and killed himself," says Detective Lieutenant Brian Miller of the Vermont State Police.
Police are still investigating why Weisler wanted to take his own life.
